Setting: Happens after 'Home Sweet Home' and before the creation of Vivian Hyuuga's genin team.

The twin ANBU who had accompanied her were nowhere in sight, although she instinctively knew that she was still being watched from somewhere. She exited the building just the way she came in, feeling the heat immediately upon going outside. While Akarigakure was usually hot during the day time, it was currently around 3 o'clock, when the heat finally gets to sink into the ground and the buildings while still being super high in the sky. Because of this, everything felt a bit dull.

Keiko whipped open her umbrella and covered herself from the hot sun, providing both her and Yuzuha with sufficient shade. Sufficient wasn't the right word. A typical umbrella's diameter is usually around three feet in diameter. While this is a good enough size for anyone, it can barely fit two people under the canopy. Keiko's custom-made umbrella was a full six feet in diameter, almost double the size of the typical umbrella.

Yuzuha snuggled softly into her hair, peeking out with one eye open. She quickly closed her eye and went snoring again, her tail swishing on the side of Keiko's hair. The first thing she needed to do was to head back to the Kaguya compound and talk with the clan head, Katsu.

The sixteen year old girl of Akarigakure walked in silence, her only companion a sleeping fox. She headed down the familiar roads that led from the center of the village to her home, a path she took at least four times in her life as a ninja. Keiko took this time to think about what to say, what she should react to, how she could get away without saying too much information, etc, etc.

Before she knew it, she had arrived at the gate that led into the compound. Several buildings were located inside the wide area, with its own pond and garden in the courtyard. Her house was shoved all the way to the edge of the compound, as evident by their poor status within the clan itself. Katsu's was located right in the middle of the back where all the main things happened. They also had their own personal space that was a tad bit secluded from the rest of the clan. But that was understandable. Katsu Kaguya was the clan leader of the Kaguya clan; he and his family would usually get the best spot.

The fact that Keiko's family got the worst spot was what was bothering her. Even those other clan members that didn't have anything sort of special or family members that were currently ninja had better accommodations than her family did. She quietly walked in and headed straight towards the main building, not stopping for a moment to go to her family and instead wanting to go straight to the leader and talk with him one on one.

There were a few clan members she passed on the way to the main building where Katsu was usually located, whose facial expressions changed to one of surprise upon seeing her. She ignored them as they weren't people she typically associated with. In the past, the only ones she truly interacted with was Katsu and her family only. Everyone kept their distance away from her family, as if they were some poor villagers simply mooching off the pride and honor of the rest of the clan. And in a way, it was somewhat true.

Her parents were not notable ninja with any special powers. They barely made it to chuunin and simply stopped there, having two kids, one of which was still a bit young. In all honesty, Keiko should have entered the academy at least three years ago while she first became a teenager or even younger, but circumstances prevented her from achieving that. Now that she did and successfully graduate and become a genin, she had hoped that their living conditions would improve, but they were still here in the corner of the compound, with nothing changed for them.

Did Katsu Kaguya resent them? Was this something the elders have decided amongst themselves? Was Kammi involved? Or was she overthinking the situation. She would bring up the topic once she met with the clan leader. Keiko continued walking until she finally reached the building. Rather grandiose in design, the Kaguya Main Hall held all the important meetings as well as the daily happenings around the clan. Similar to the Kage's Mansion in concept, it was where the leader came to work for the affairs of his or her clan.

She opened the doors that led into the Main Hall of the Kaguya Clan, where most of the important matters regarding the clan's dealings occurred. Lined to the sides would normally be the high-ranking elders of the clan, sitting on both sides while staring rather imposingly and menacingly at the teenage girl. However, the only sight she was greeted with was Katsu Kaguya far in the back.
