Biographical Information

Name: Utsu Mikadai

Clan: N/A

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Ninja Status: Rogue Nin

Rank: D

Height: 5'4"

Weight: 120 lbs.

Utsu possesses a thick, wavy bushel of dark brown locks that fall several inches past her shoulders. While not overly unruly, due to her rustic upbringing and recent hardships the girl is often lax on properly maintaining her appearance and often concedes to wearing her hair in twin ponytails to hide the occasional tangle. Framed by this dark mane is a somewhat plain face that possesses a wide rounded chin, large buggy chestnut eyes, and a snubbed nose. Utsu's physique is very average for her upbringing, standing about equal to her peers and possessing a a partial tone to the musculature of her lightly tanned skin from a childhood of manual labor.

While not opposed to more feminine wear, Utsu's wardrobe is casual and utilitarian out of necessity, preferring jeans paired with simple neutral shirts, workboots, and occasional light jacket. For accessories, the girl has a small collection of simple bracelets and two piercing studs that she wears in her lobes.

Utsu is an extremely loyal individual, always willing to help those she considers friends and family. Though not entirely naive, having grown up in the countryside the young woman learned the need to band together with others in times of hardships and sticks firmly to the principle of helping others in hopes that they will return the kindness one day. However, this lifestyle has also bred a distrust in the back of her mind for the wealthier upper class living in the comforts of the large Shinobi villages, feeling jealousy at the opportunities and safety that her people were never provided.

The casual observer would often be likely to describe the girl as easygoing, rarely dwelling on any trial or difficulty. People closer to Utsu will however quickly come to see her determination and conviction, never giving on any goal she sets her mind to and always seeing any task out to the end. While not prideful, this determination can often give the teen an overconfidence in her abilities, leading her to being overly risky and brash in achieving her ambitions.

Utsu was born to two loving parents in a fishing village along the eastern coastline far to the southeast of Akarigakure. Though living in little luxury, the girl knew a simple, happy childhood in the small community her family has called home for generations. The third of five children, Utsu was raised as much by her two older brothers as her parents, busy as they were were plying their trade on the docks and boats of the village. When she grew old enough, the girl in turn assisted in caring for her two younger siblings before eventually learning the family business a few years later.

Though having no particular interest in the life of a fisherman, Utsu fell into place eagerly, knowing the importance of the food and trade the seas brought to her family and community. This however would bring first tragedy of the girl's life, when at 13 her father was severely injured in a boating accident. Though surviving it, the aging man was left severely crippled in his left leg, forcing Utsu's eldest brother to take up the brunt of the more dangerous work in providing for the family. Watching him go out even in the worst tumultuous seasons, Utsu was inspired by her brother, strengthening her resolve to both prove herself and remain steadfast to her family.

This resolve would quickly come to be tested, as two more years passed by and even greater tragedy befell the entirety of her village. An Akuma appeared on the shores one particularly stormy night, and in a wild fit of rage began laying to waste to the entirety of her home. The small fleet of fishing boats were sunk, a substantial portion of port's docks were thrashed apart, and several homes were leveled, killing a few unsuspecting souls trapped inside. Though fortunately Utsu's family had been spared any loss, they along with their remaining neighbors were forced to flee in the devastation, seeking refuge in another settlement that lay along the giant river north of the village. Now without homes or the tools the community had used to provide for themselves for decades, they were left impoverished and relying on what generosity their hosts could show them in the aftermath.

A week following, two villagers were sent back to examine the remains of their homes, only to discover the beast still lurking in the shallows of their ruined docks with seemingly no intention to leave. Returning empty handed, having been too fearful to collect anything with the creature still lying in wait, the pair only brought more panic and heartbreak to the displaced people. Various plans were suggested to help the community start anew, but one in particular stuck out to Utsu. One of the members of the larger town had suggested trying to ask aid from the Hidden Village further up the river in dealing with the Akuma. Most balked at this idea instantly, mistrust and dislike of the ninja was a common touchstone in the country people, but knowing the necessity of reclaiming their land, Utsu latched onto to it.

With so much dissension and need of manpower in rebuilding, Utsu received no volunteers when she offered to go. The girl's parents pleaded with the girl to remain, but seeing the increasing desperation and despair set upon her once proud people, Utsu gathered what supplies she could from her few sympathizers, and set off west. The journey was long, having no money to pay for boatfare or riding animal Utsu was forced to journey the land on foot. While she remained close to the river at first, eventually Utsu became anxious and attempted to cross through the desert to save time. This would nearly prove fatal however, as her water quickly ran out and the girl was left stranded in the sands.

In delirium and fear, something snapped within the teen. Suddenly her pack felt just a little lighter, and her legs picked up just a bit more speed. Sprinting through the dunes, the girl would finally once again see the fertile land of the river, and with it the flowing water that would quench her thirst. Falling on her knees at the bank, the girl greedily lapped up her fill as she felt an overwhelming ache in her muscles. Unbeknownst to her, Utsu had opened the first of the Celestial Gates in her desperation. After an afternoon of rest and a light meal, the girl would resume her journey, now sticking ever close to the rushing waters for the remainder of her long journey.

Wonder filled the girl when she finally arrived at the massive village, easily meeting all the expectations from the wild stories spoken about the great ninja cities. However, this fantasy would be quickly brought to a halt when after being directed to the proper authority, Utsu came to realize she had nowhere near the funds to pay for a mission necessary to remove the demon from her people's home. Frustrated and bitter, the girl spent the night on the streets of Akari running over options in her mind. Awakening the next morning to the hustle and bustle of the great village, Utsu made up her mind to carry out her goal by any means necessary, immediately seeking out small odd-jobs to help provide for herself while she formulated plans to help finance her home's rescue.
