OOC: This is a class to learn the Shuriken Boujou and Chouyaku Basic Techniques. You do not need to learn both of these techniques, but if you post here, please, at least train one. This is not a standard RP thread, so please keep it light. Each of these jutsu require 2 paragraphs each in order to train. In total, at least 3 Basic Techniques must be learned in order to graduate to Genin.

Please refer to the Basic Techniques list for reference to these techniques.

IC: Upon entering the training grounds, students would be treated to the sight of a ninja who had that characteristic sense of disappointment that came from one who was expected to do the same thing every single week of his life with no end in sight. This class was all about two basic techniques, Shuriken Boujou, or Shuriken Intercept, and Chouyaku, "Leap".

"We'll start with Shuriken Boujou. This technique is a Bukijutsu used with projectiles to deflect or redirect opposing projectiles. This one doesn't need chakra, it's just pure skill. I'll be throwing rocks at each of you-I want you to throw your shuriken at the rocks, to hit both targets behind me, one with the rock, and one with your shuriken. Anyone who aims at me or deflects either a rock or shuriken at me will be...severely punished."

~~~
"Next, we'll learn Chouyaku. This is a Ninjutsu technique, even though it uses your body. With this jutsu, you focus chakra to your legs and jump. Your jump carries you much further and higher than otherwise possible, letting you jump across wide chasms or to the top of a building." The instructor turned to the side and leaped up, easily reaching the highest branch of a nearby tree with a single leap. He turned, his demonstration complete, and motioned for his students to attempt it.
~~~

Once the instruction was completed, the instructor would write down the names of those who successfully completed each technique and allow the participants to leave. This was his life, day in and day out, and it never changed, not even the words he used, as he had long ago settled on exactly this phrasing.

OOC: Once you've completed this training, please post a thread here, using the Character Additions template. You may do this after each training session or when you've learned all the basics you intend to learn.

Third day of learning new jutsu techniques. The young Kaguya member showed up early even before the teacher himself came. Waiting by the door for about an hour, Keiko retaught herself all the things she learned the past week until the door to the classroom opened. By that time, a few other students had begun waiting as well and each file in one after the other. Like the last two times, she situated herself at the same desk in the front near the door opposite of the windows.

Class soon began with the teacher pacing himself back and forth in front of the blackboard. He had a metal stick that he kept rapping against the wall pointing out several key topics about the new jutsu Shuriken Boujou. This technique relied on pure physical prowess and skill to master. Keiko was definitely not confident in her shuriken techniques so she would probably take a long time with this technique.

As soon as he was done explaining, they were brought outside to the nearby clearing where several targets stood standing in the clearing. She wasn't good at shuriken jutsu so she asked the teacher if she could practice first before actually starting on the technique. With that, she walked off to the side of the clearing, letting all the other students go first at attempting their technique.

She watched the students gathering for their class from afar. For Sakura, this was one of the few times that her parents forced her to go to the academy and step away from her idol life. Heart pounding in her chest, she shook her head briskly before plastering a soft smile to her face, striding calmly to join the class in session.

“It’s just another performance. Just breathe.”

After listening intently to the teachers explanation, she waited patiently for her turn, tuning out the rest of the students around her. The whistling of a rock flying towards her alerted Sakura to the attack. Sapphire eyes flicked to track the flight path and steadying herself, she reached into her pouch to grab a shuriken.
The rock was close and she flinched, readying herself for the impact, before she flicked her wrist to throw the weapon from her pouch. She muttered under her breath about being too slow as she watched the consequences of her action. Shuriken and rock colliding perfectly in mid-air, both falling to the ground harmlessly. Her sister would have probably done it first time, and that annoyed the girl.

The training continued on for a while, students taking turns trying to reach their sensei’s expectations. They all failed several times, that was to be expected, and eventually the idol found herself getting the hang of it. With a sigh, she prepared herself once more, she could feel it, this was the one.

Once more the fruit of the earth was propelled into the air. Peace fell over her, she reached for her pouch and traced the grey target without thought. Shifting her weight slightly to the side, she positioned herself and let her metal counter loose.
Impact. All according to keikaku. A grin crossed the girls face as she turned away from the rest of the class.

“It wasn’t much.”

She took a quick look over her shoulder just to double-check it had happened and noted that both targets had been hit. It would have been awfully embarrassing otherwise. Instead, she sat down cross-legged, waiting for the next phase of the lesson.

~~~
Her eyes grew wide as she watched the teacher leap into the tree and without hesitation, Sakura jumped to her feet excitedly. Holding her hands together, she quickly performed a seal to help with her control and started pushing her chakra towards the muscles in her legs. Envisioning the blue power running through her body, she turned her eyes upwards towards her sensei and crouched down, placing one hand on the ground and psyching herself up for the leap. She noted that this was a different side of her that the idol life didn’t see very often, but tossed this notion away as she pushed the ground away also.
In flight, sailing through the air.
But not going to make it.
She raised her hands to grab hold of the highest branch. Holding on, she looked up at her sensei and frowned, the man's look of disappointment at his student lighting a fire underneath her. With a quick swing of her body, she landed on a branch lower down and then jumped back to the ground, meeting up with the other students who had failed or not attempted it yet.
“One more time.”
With one failed attempt under her belt and the perfect status gone, Sakura spent time concentrating. Seal held, she focussed on her breathing, in and out. Letting her chakra infuse her muscles naturally as she willed it to happen, refusing to force it instantly. She knew this wouldn’t cut it in the real world, but these passageways needed to be honed and trained with practice.
When she could feel the readied power flowing through her legs, she once again turned her head skyward and locked eyes with her teacher. A rush of passion pierced her veil of concentration as his disappointment washed over her and with a simple push off, she defied gravity just as he did.
Moments later, she was on the branch next to him. Her landing wasn’t perfect, she had over extended and swayed backwards. Her arms shot outwards and grabbed her sensei to stabilize her balance. She didn’t care what he thought now. She was done.
She had absolutely no experience with throwing a shuriken. How disastrous. First, the teen would need to learn how to hold, throw, and then accurately know the trajectory of the shuriken so she could predict how and when it would reach a certain spot at a certain point in time. Angles would also be necessary for her to redirect another projectile like a rock to his a specific point in time. All this new information was like wave after wave of difficulties piling upon her until she almost could not handle it and succumb to the pressure of the task.
Step by step. Breath in.. exhale.. One step at a time. Inhale.. exhale..
Keiko had this. She could learn it. She will learn it. Super quickly. Grabbing a bunch of shuriken into her hand, she aimed at a distant target and held the shuriken in her hand. It was pretty heavy for such a small object, coming in at a half pound but she was determined to make it work. As she watched the other students, she saw how they flicked their wrist to propel the shuriken in a rather curvy path instead of the straight path she is accustomed to. Assuming the proper grip, she flicked her wrist and watched how her shuriken barely span before plopping down onto the grass.
First attempt: Failure..
She grabbed another one from the stack in her left hand and this time would wind her arm up before flicking it, sort of like how one throws a Frisbee. The second attempt was most definitely better than the first but it still didn't quite reach its intended target. Maybe she simply needed more power rather than just the flicka da wrist? She would try a different approach this time and throw it like a baseball even if she didn't know what a baseball was or what the game itself is and watched with limited success as it went the distance. However, it curved away from the target and implanted itself into the ground a few feet away. The Kaguya teen smiled as she finally got her 'first' curvy projectile. She practiced a few more times in the same manner to try and understand the direction the shuriken would curve and finally got a basic understanding how to properly curve the shuriken.
After that, she had tried to do more of the flicka da wrist as well as the powerful motion for throwing and the result was what most of the other students had performed, a regular-looking shuriken throw. She got it down. Finally. All that needs to be done now is pracitce, practice, practice, and more practice.
It was time to get in front of the teacher. A good 95% of the students have already had their turn with having rocks thrown at them and now it was Keiko's turn. She had in her right hand a single shuriken that she rubbed soo much it began to 'wear' down. Well technically speaking, that wasn't true. But she was anxious at performing the Shuriken Boujou. The teacher stood across from her about five meters away with a pebble in his hand. Behind him were two targets she needed to hit. One with her own projectile and the other with the pebble. Seeing how the conditions for the pebble's trajectory is a bit unknown, she would have to approximate its trajectory as soon as the pebble is thrown, then throw her own shuriken so that at the moment of impact, the angle would change and the pebble would head to one target while her's will go to the other target.
Such a herculean task is best meant for the Uchiha, known for their great eyes. For someone like Keiko, it would be best for her to simply deflect the projectile coming at her and throw two of her own. However, they were learning this technique so she would try her best to do it. As soon as the teacher threw the pebble at her, she flung her shuriken in the usual manner so that its arc would intersect the pebble's at a specific point in time. The angle she had to hit the pebble also had to be exact, lest the pebble fly off in a different direction. She had successfully hit the pebble with her own shuriken, letting out a small smile in the process and watched how the pebble flew straight towards the teacher's face.
Whoops...
The teacher caught the pebble single-handedly and gave her one of the scariest stares she has ever seen in her life. She felt a chill running down her spine as his overbearing demeanor engulfed her. Keiko cowered in fright and felt her knees buckle slightly. Practically scared for her short life, the teenager looked straight down and apologized profusely, her head almost at a 90° angle to the floor. In that short moment, she felt his presence over her disappear and Keiko looked back up slowly. The teacher had his eyes closed and tossed the pebble up a couple of feet into the air before catching it again with the same hand.
"Let's do this again, okay? The next time it comes towards me, even if it is an accident, you will be punished."
Keiko's head began vibrating up and down, not even making the full motion of a nod as the scare from earlier still remained deep in her head. She grabbed another shuriken from the floor next to her and went into her 'throwing' posture. She definitely did not want to mess this up. The pebble moved straight forwards, meaning that the angle of her shuriken was wrong. She needed more of an angle to make it head past the teacher and into the target behind him. All the thinking in her mind with the Sakki technique the teacher used a minute ago left her with a grim expression on her face.
"Ready?"
More vibrating.
He tossed the pebble at her again, this time slightly faster than the first. She reacted with more flick compared to power and saw them collide in the air. The pebble went straight to the left right at the target. Her shuriken had curved its way around the teacher's body and implanted itself into the target with a solid thud. She did it. She actually did it. An audible exhalation exited her body as her muscles relaxed, being tense all the way til that point.
The teacher nodded and looked behind him. "You hit the targets this time. Even if it didn't hit the center of the target.. Well done."
The next technique was more up her 'alley'. By alley, she meant the fact that it was more physical bodywork compared to merely using chakra to create techniques or learning a new skill like shuriken throwing. Chouyaku. Basically enhanced jumping. Peace of cake, right? The teacher jumped up almost straight up vertically and landed on a branch of the tree several meters high.
Peace of cake.
A bead of sweat formed on her brow that would immediately fall away when Keiko jumped. When she focused her chakra to her legs and jumped, she didn't think about the fear of falling or not making it. She simply just did it. Without a moment's hesitation, she flew up into the sky towards another tree close to the teacher's and headed straight to a sturdy looking branch near the top. As soon as her legs passed the branch, she looked down and carefully positioned her feet so that they would land on the tree.
That was when the trouble began to brew. Keiko was too high. The teen was higher than she ever been and this freaked her out. Although she landed on the branch a second later, she immediately lost balance and fell. The ground was approaching very fast and without thinking, she sent more of her own chakra to her legs, hoping to strengthen them from the impact.
What happened next was something only she would know. Her bones in her lower body began hardening, her chakra manipulating the density of the bones to be similar to steel in strength. What happened next rather surprised Keiko too. When she landed, she created a deep indentation in the ground with her feet, her hands slightly bruised from the impact as she landed on all four. All of the students' eyes were glued to the floor as they processed what happened.
She reached the top. She fell. She landed. She made a small crater with her feet. What just happened? The Kaguya soon realized what she had done with her chakra and would silently think about what she did to cause it to happen. Her feet and legs were completely fine aside from the slight bruising of the skin, but nothing hurt. Just her hands. And even then, the bones in her hands were already moving back into place so that it would become as if nothing had ever happened. This was the first time she would experience an 'injury' of hers to heal.
The teacher waved the students off and shouted for the next one to continue, signaling that she passed. Keiko only needed to work on landing and would probably get it down pat. The girl nodded and hurried off back home to recount on her clan's abilities.
It wasn’t often that the idol found herself within the acadmey’s walls. Akeno and her sister were often left to their own devices and found they were praciting for their next performance more so than worrying about becoming a ninja. Though today her parents felt it was imperative that the duo make their way to the academy. Akeno did not stand with her sister, or want to practice near her. She often found herself in a silent competition with her younger twin when they were working on technique and it wasn’t helpful for them to be near each other. Though, lecture was different. She’d fight for the seat besides her twin if necessary, placing the two front and center.
Today, she was off to the side a bit, listening to a grumpy looking sensei who was explaining to them about the importance of their skill in fighting. Abilities that didn’t need chakra were her specialty,- so she was excited for what was to come. They were going to using their shuriken to hit rocks and use it to redirect the items to hit the targets behind the sensei. Akeno fingered the items in her hands, waiting for her turn. She was sure she’d excel in this area, unlike her sister. A small part of her wished that she could show off her expertise. She knew better than to try and preemptively brag. So, when it was her turn, she brushed off her attire and waited for the throw.
Waiting for the rock to be tossed, Akeno studied watch it with her sharp gaze. In a single action, she flicked out the shuriken’s, deflecting the rock and redirecting her own shuriken into the targets behind her sensei. Her hands clapped together with glee at the accomplished task, turning to grin to her classmates. “Didn’t even break a sweat,” she chirped before finding her seat once more, after all – there were others that needs to reattempt their tries. Not everyone was as skilled as Akeno.
~~~~~

The female waited until they had moved onto the next technique that they were going to be learning in this class. It was a ninjutsu technique – something that had the idol internally groaning. Ninjutsu was her sister’s specialty – not her own. Akeno could manage anything that had to do with her body and or extension of it. Once you involve ninjutsu it was – well not as easily accomplished.

A small frown made its way to her face as she listened to the instructions presented to them. Just flow the chakra to the legs and jump. It would carry her further and allow her to cross chasm or reach the top of a building. She had her suspicions, but they were quickly demolished when the sensei leapt to the top of a near by tree. Her cerulean eyes widened with surprise. Well then – this might take a while to get.

Akeno attempted this technique, trying to focus her chakra into her legs. The first attempt was pitiful, barely making it halfway up the tree. Her hand had slammed into a tree branch, pulling herself up. She narrowed her eyes, bottom lip poking out in a pout as she regarding the distance she needed to make up for in her next attempt. With a sigh, she tumbled back to the ground. Another attempt at the jump, brought her higher – but it was still not enough.

Frustration started to pulse through her, determination to not be such a failure at this. With another final attempt, Akeno found the right amount of push she needed to launch herself forward. Her attention was focused, the top branch. Everything else fell away as she propelled herself upward. At first she though she wouldn’t make it, but she did – and much like her sister she found herself grabbing hold of her sensei to help stabilize her on the tree branch. She offered him a bright and cheerful smile. How she could up there didn’t matter – his words were if they reached the top in a single leap. She did. Even If it wasn’t as clean as she wanted.

Regardless, she was done.

OOC: Shuriken Boujou training

More throwing weapons...

Hanzo wasn't happy at all with having to learn more techniques that involved throwing stuff at other stuff. He only listened with half an ear on what the teacher had to say about this Shuriken Boujou technique, the rest of his attention were on the itch on the back of his head that for some reason had been there ever since he scared the living hell out of that chinchilla. Was it guilt? Nah, probably not. Was it flees? Possibly. Either way the itch was not going away and there was training to be done.

While Hanzo wasn't a bit interested in throwing more shurikens the idea of being able to stop them from hitting him did intrigue him. The part where it doesn't required the use of chakra was a nice touch as well.

Taking position, the Shimazu youth readied the equipment needed for the Shuriken Boujou and waited for the teacher to makes his move. It annoyed him ever so slightly that using his katana would be punished, it seemed like the smarter item to use when projectiles where thrown at you as he wouldn't lose any equipment doing so. However, there was of course a chance that the edge would be chipped by deflecting other metal objects. It made sense.

The technique in itself was rather easy to to figure out as it basically only involved throwing your stuff at other stuff while they were flying towards you. As the teacher threw the rocks against him he waited for the right moment and threw the shuriken at them, both of the projectiles hitting their marks behind the teacher. A cocky grin danced over Hanzo's face as he repeated the sequence a couple of times before the teacher told him to switch places with a different student.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OOC: Chouyaku training
Next on the agenda was to learn how to use the Chouyaku technique. The theory behind the technique almost seemed a bit too simple: "Pump chakra into your legs and jump", it felt like there had to be more than that to the technique. But judging by the teacher's demonstration there wasn't really anything else than just that.
Hanzo would pick a tree in the vicinity and stared at it for a few moments, picking a branch to land on whenever he got the technique to work. It would spell disaster if he landed on a branch that wouldn't hold his weight and break, turning him over to the oh so foul mistress called gravity.
A few more moments later he finally focused enough to fuse chakra into his legs and when he felt ready he would crouch down a bit to get momentum and launched himself off the ground. Everything went smoothly, if it wasn't for the fact that he had not gained enough height to reach the branch that he been aiming for and launched himself straight into the tree trunk. After a slight make out session with the barky surface he fell towards the ground again. Lucky for him he realized this before hitting the ground and twisted his body enough to land on his feet.
He rubbed his nose to remove the pain and chuckled at his own failure, it must have looked hilarious when he smacked right into the tree. Too bad it seemed as if no one had seen it and the chuckle turned into a slight frown as his gaze returned to the branch. The wooden ledge was clearly a worthy adversary and it appeared to be mocking him. That, however, might have just been a side effect of the concussion he had just received.
Again he charged his legs with chakra to redo his last try of leaping up to his newfound dance partner. This time however the branch had met its match as Hanzo lept from the ground once more and now he had jumped with enough power to reach his target. He landed on it quite violently and that rustled the leaves that called the branch its home.
Hanzo looked back at his teacher who was giving him the thumbs up, approving of the boys success, and with that Hanzo felt that he was done doing chakra training for the day. He sat down, leaned against the tree trunk, and fell asleep...
Once again Nini was back in class, and it wasn't going to be very much different from the last. He turned on his Sharingan the moment he was reminded of the projectile nature of the class. My favorite. In the first class he would be learning to deflect projectiles with shuriken and he was keen to get started. Once it was his turn, he would keep a straight face as the teacher motioned for him to grab his shuriken. Here we go
The first rock would be thrown and Ninigi would be awed by the detail he saw in its flight, almost forgetting that he had his sharingan on. Right. The boy would waste no time and would throw his shuriken at it, his steel projectile quickly meeting the target from the underside. It didn't work how it was meant to, but the rock was deflected a bit higher, prompting Ninigi to throw another shuriken at it. The second shuriken would slightly miss the rock, but this was due to his rushed attempt.That's embarrassing a bit. He would quickly focus on his teacher who was launching a second rock now.
One at a time. Nini would soften his grip on the shuriken and then throw it at the incoming rock in a bid to have his shuriken deflect the rock at the tip with the forward spin he had put on it. And the idea indeed worked well, the shuriken we ricocheted off the rock and went to the right, and the rock went westwards. The only problem was this attempt was a good deal shy of the actual targets, he had only succeeded in orchestrating the directions. He would smile and grab two more shuriken in preparation as the instructor readied the next few rocks to be thrown.
Shuriken Boujou The young uchiha would fling his shuriken a few more times at the succession of rocks that would be thrown at him, before realizing success. On the 8th rock, he would just about hit both targets perfectly. Hell yeah. The instructor would then proceed to throw a few more, and once he replicated the success a couple times, he was good to go.
Chouyaku Ninigi maintained his sharingan and attempted the second jutsu for the day. He leaped off the ground and whispered the words "watch me" to himself, only to find himself landing as quickly as he had reached his regular maximum height. It was a shame, but he would go for it again. He channeled chakra down his legs a second time and rose into the air, pushing against the ground to gain maximum altitude. This second time he would go about 20 percent higher than his known best, and a feeling of excitement found its way to his heart. It was great to see the reward of trying, despite having failed woefully the first time.
Chouyaku The young Uchiha would go on for what was probably his 5th try by now. It seemed that with every try he was getting higher, but considering the fact that now he had only gotten about twice as high as his normal maximum, there was much to be done. He paused after the 5th try and looked around, assessing his surroundings as self-consciousness consumed him. If I don't get it done soon, this is going to look bad. No Uchiha ever needed to try to hard, at least not in public. They were revered for their skill, and with his clan symbol beaming overly on the back of his shirt, he had a lot of representing to do.
Ninigi took another jump off the ground, this time clapping his feet once he had reached the peak of his jump; it had been an impressive one. It was the most increment in a successive jump and he finally felt he had gotten the hang of the jutsu. It would take a few more attempts of pumping chakra down his legs and leaping off the ground before the instructor was satisfied with the height he had attained and he was successful with Chouyaku
The life of a ninja...sigh
It wasn't Shouto's first training with shuriken and he'd already learned how to bounce them on to a target. This was the next step up bouncing them off a moving Target. He excited yet nervous he picked up the shuriken to be used for the exercise. Stepping up for his turn he'd nervously spin the shuriken on his fingers. The instructor would throw the rock at him aimed at his forehead.
It was a task of pure skill and sadly Shouto was fairly lacking in that department as of yet. He'd manage to hit the rock on the first try but neither the rock or shuriken would hit the target the direct hit causing them to both fall. The second attempt caused the rock to hit the target but not the shuriken which happened to fly back towards him. The instructor intercepted the shuriken with another rock and warned him to be a bit more careful.
On the third attempt he'd manage to hit both targets.even if just barely. The shuriken made the rock hit the target in the chest and proceed to the ground . It bounced off a stone and up into the targets gut. The instructor was gonna give it to him but Shouto insisted on trying again as that all happened by chance and he was highly unlikely to repeat the feat.calming himself he'd try again. This time the rock would hit the Dummy's chest and the shuriken would bounce off the other's head. It didn't stick but it was enough to show he could perform the technique. With the go ahead Shouto would move on to the next area to begin practicing the next jutsu.
Having finished training with the shuriken, Shouto was ready for the next jutsu. It seemed to be pretty straight forward and easy. Simple chakra channeling. He'd stand steady and focus chakra. He was gonna take it slow learn to walk then to run. When the chakra had gathered to a significant amount, he'd jump up the jutsu would work but he'd lose control on the way down and flop on the ground.
He'd groan getting up. He clearly over did it on the chakra comparatively to his skill level as he definitely wasn't ready to be jumping so high. He'd try a few more times starting with shorter jumps gradually going higher maintaining his ability of a controlled land. Although the instructor gave him the all clear. Shouto wanted to try one more thing.
He'd beginning jogging at a slight pace and build up chakra as he moved. It took all of his focus to do so but he managed, focusing the chakra in his legs he'd jump aiming for distance of height. The distance covered was impressive for his size however he failed to stick the landing, his momentum causing him to roll upon landing. He'd lay there a bit rather embarrassed at his mistake. With a bright red face he'd gradually get away from the training area and make his way home. He'd groan as he left knowing his mother would kill him for all the grass stains.
