[B-Ranked Mission]

[Starts inside Akarigakure]

The team has finally gathered back together again. After several months apart, Jashinru, Vivian, and Zau were finally able to get back together again. The Kage of Akarigakure, Akimichi Chouten, requested Team Kazue be put back into commission. Each chuunin was sent a small missive for them to gather in front of the main gate at 07:00 the next morning.

Once there, they would converse for a few minutes before getting into the meat and grit. The Asakage would explain the mission details, saying that one of their trade routes have been besieged by a well-organized group of bandits. Once all questions have been answered, he would send them off to their destination at Hizou fort to the north.

Zau nodded through Chiten's explanation, not saying anything until he was gone. Once he had left, however, it was time to get to work. Zau raised his hand to his mouth and reopened a cut on his thumb with his teeth-a practice he was sure Vivian, at least, would recognize. He performed a few seals and knelt down, slamming his hand on the ground. Akago was summoned to Zau's location, along with a pair of his siblings whose names Zau didn't know. One was a shimmering, glossy black, and one was a deep, wine-colored red.

Zau reached up and pet Akago's cheek, to which the massive fowl responded warmly with a series of chirps. He walked over to the others he summoned, and after giving them each a pet as well, reached for a slender metal strip dangling from the front of their saddles, reading their names off of each in turn.

"Kuroban", he said as he led the black Niwatoridai to Jash. Kuroban was shorter than Akago, but more solidly built. As Zau took his reins in hand, he noticed a slight resistance-Kuroban, it seemed, had a bit of a fiery streak in him. He would lead the other bird to Vivian-"Sakurazume", he in turn said to Viv as he handed the reins of the wine-hued bird to her. Sakurazume was much more pliant than Kuroban, and even lowered her head down to Zau in order to get another cheek rub.

"These are Niwatoridai. They're a little smarter than horses, not as smart as most summonings though. Mine is named Akago. We've got a ways to go, so I figured we could move in style. They can also run faster and further than we can. They can't fly, but they can glide, so if we come to any cliffs, just feel free to direct them right over the edge.

They're excellent steeds, but they aren't trained to fight, so if we get into any trouble, send them running please. I don't want to have to explain a few dead Niwatoridai.
"

With that, Zau returned to Akago, placed one foot in the stirrup hanging from Akago's saddle, and swung the other leg over. Once his teammates were in position, Zau would tap Akago's flank with his heel, and his steed would be off, the pair heading North. Akago was faster than most of his siblings, so Zau wouldn't have him go full speed-but even his slower siblings were still blazingly fast-there was a reason Zau liked riding these things, after all.

Vivian handed the Kage's aides a piece of paper she had prepared ahead of time as he left, or the Kage himself if none were present. On one side was her personal seal for Hiraishin. On the other were the words 'MUSASHI'S PLAYPEN' in big red letters. She would hopefully not need to go into depth about where that needed to go but if it seemed like there was confusion she would explain that it was ideally to be placed wherever they would like the mark to end up once they had acquired him.

Other than that... there wasn't much for her to do. Oh wait there actually was. Reaching out to her teammates she tapped them both on the shoulder and marked them with her seal. With a cheeky grin she pulled back and twirled around to face the exit as she called out over her shoulder.

"So I can find you when you inevitably get in over your heads."

Being honest with herself if anyone was likely to get in over their head it was her. That wouldn't stop her from worrying about the others. Zau she hadn't seen for month so there wasn't exactly a chance to do this beforehand, and Jash was always busy with his training when she was free. Much like she was busy with hers when he was free. Honestly it was a wonder they all managed to be free and meet up when they had the other day at the village entrance.

As Zau introduced her Niwatoridai Vivian reached up and softly ran her hand alongside its beak as she gave it a smile.

"Sakurazume... Nice to meet you."

Vivian had never ridden, well, anything in her life. Being in the back of a wagon really didn't count here. Hers was a life immersed in complex sealing formulae and advanced chakra theories. Not to mention that all of that was for the sake of attaining what most would consider an impossible goal. Yet for all her knowledge and ability it was getting on the !Chocobo that daunted her. With more than a little hesitation she slowly hoisted herself onto its back and settled into the saddle. Once up there Vivian would follow Zau's example and give a tentative tap with her heel.

To say that she was taken by surprise at the sudden burst of speed was an understatement. Letting loose a string of curses that would make a sailor blush she held onto Sakurazume for dear life as they rocketed across the ground. It wasn't even the speed itself, she herself could attain speeds almost matching the bird. The rush of the ground coupled with the fact that she felt completely out of control left the chuunin missing the feeling of good solid earth beneath her feet.

Yet after a few minutes of unsteady wobbling in her saddle she found that the mount was quite receptive to her plight. If she seemed like she was going to topple off it would adjust itself beneath her to settle her in. No longer worried she'd end up getting thrown off at least, Vivian offered her teammates a shaky smile. The sooner they got to their destination the better.

Jash appeared late as usual, what was the scheduled time, 7:00? He was there at 7:20. Not a breath out of place he held his hand up and lazily placed them back in his pockets. say no more, i know i know. he would say to Zau and Vivian and turning in surprise to see Lord Third. Uh-oh. my bad Grandpa Third... he would say bowing his head. Lady Kazue would kill him if he forgot the manners she spent months engraving into his body. He most likely missed Lord Choutens explanation, but knew the details thanks to thier dossier.

Once Zau summoned what looked like an ostritch he led the reluctant black one to Jash...Wha...kuroban? Is this a joke? he would say tugging at the reign of the flightless bird. This thing had an attitude problem. He listened through Zaus explanation of the bird trying to get his to cooperate before it finally turned its head away accepting its job.

Jash hopped on its back, unsure of how to actually ride it, and Kuro seeing this gave a devious smile. This was goong to be an interesting ride. They waited for the word before moving out. Once they did Kuro took off bucking Jash around like a wet noodle making the ride very unpleasant for a first timer.

The Akimichi Asakage would play no part in the current mission, being completely ignored as he handed out the mission details. At least Jash said something to him.. There weren't even any questions, nor did he have the chance to ask how each and every one of them were. The nerve of these young brats.

Regardless, they all set off without soo much as a wave to their supreme leader. Much of Akarigakure's surroundings was desert and wasteland, the only parts of it not being so was next to the river. Several building-sized entities were scattered throughout the deserts of the previous Sun Country, some of them doing nothing in particular while others were hulking around, trying to find something to kill.

These beings, known as Akuma, came from another world to do whatever it takes to kill any and all humans. Why did they have such resentment towards us? Who knows? They do. As Team Kazue passed the river on their way towards Hizou fort, they would see three figures rumbling around in the distance. They were all several hundred meters away from each other, but because of their size, it looked like they were closer to one another than they would think. What will the trio of chuunin do? At the moment all three were not looking in the direction of the Akarigakure ninja and were mulling about at the ground.

As Zau led the charge-predictably, with Vivian quickly adjusting to the experience of riding the fowl and Jash...not doing so, he would of course notice the Akuma. While the monks were generally pretty insistent on their "no kills" rule, they held no illusions about the nature of Akuma-these were some of the few beings to not apply to the rule. In fact, it was quite the opposite-those powerful enough to do so were encouraged to slay these beasts whenever and wherever they were encountered.

Zau pulled back slightly on Akago's reins, slowing his steed down to a walk, and signaled for his companions to do the same.

"I know our mission should take precedence...but how would you guys feel about some demon slaying? Judging by their size, I'd say, probably A-rank...we could probably handle them one at a time. Thoughts?

Zau's last encounter with an Akuma was a shared experience with Jash and Serenity; that creature had only been C-rank, and it gave them significant trouble-but that was years ago. Zau and his friends were quite a bit stronger these days. Zau was confident that they could handle it.

The trip started out peacefully enough, but that was only to be expected. Right around the village would be where their security would be tightest and any stray malcontents stupid enough to venture this way would be picked up by Akarigakure shinobi well before they could bother the trio. It wasn't long after they had gone past the safety net that the real fun began with not one but three Akuma of at the very least B rank nature, or A rank if Zau's observations were correct. B rank was mostly her just being optimistic because with her luck they were actually Z rank and everything ended here and now.

What with them being right in their path it posed a slight dilemma, one that most sane people would conclude ended with them taking the long route. Not Zau apparently.

"Jeez... If we stop to take care of every Akuma between here and our target we might never get there. Plus they'll just come back down the road."

Her words might have carried more weight were it not for the excitement apparent on her face. The token resistance she offered to Zau's plan was just that. There were two types of opponents that Vivian would never willingly back down from, and one of them happened to be akuma or anything that happened to remind her of them.

"It's too bad they're right in our way. I don't feel like going around, it'd take too long. Guess we have no choice."

She had no idea how Jash was going to react to the plan to take those things on so she could only wait and see, but if they were going Akuma hunting she knew one thing for certain. This would be the perfect time to test a few jutsu out and maybe see how well Atla fit in with the rest of the team.
