Mission Link
Mission Details

Details: A disagreement between a high-ranking Kaguya clan member and the clan head resulted in a fight between the two people. Katsu had gone easy on the poor soul, leaving him with several broken bones and tons of bruises. However, Kinryu had stolen some sensitive information about the clan and Akarigakure and deserted towards Yamagakure. That information must not be allowed into the hands of other people. Apprehend and capture the traitor and bring him back to the Clan Leader, alive or dead. Failure is NOT an option.

Objectives:
- Hunt Down The Traitor
- Use Scroll to Seal Him To Capture (Alive Only) or Kill and Retrieve the Information

Known NPCs:
Katsu Kaguya (Clan Leader)
Kinryu Kaguya (Traitor)

Keiko Kaguya

[While this is set close to Yamagakure's village, the location would be on the mountain range of the former Frost Country. We do not set foot inside the Hidden Village.]

"How did I get mixed up in all this..

Keiko's head was facing the ground with one knee down on the floor. In front of her was the head of the Kaguya Clan. He was very imposing and probably disliked Keiko's family in general. Perhaps that was why she was chosen for this task instead of his own daughter?

If anyone in the Kaguya Clan aside from her own parents knew that she had the Shikotsumyaku bloodline, they would either fear her or kill her outright. It was one of the reasons why Keiko kept it a secret from everyone in the world. No one can know until she was strong enough to fend for herself and protect her own family too.

[Setting: Three Hours Earlier, 06:00]

Keiko woke up five minutes past six, her head a mess from all the tossing and turning throughout the night. She received the note yesterday after coming back from her training before dusk. In it explained an order from Katsu Kaguya, the clan head of the Kaguya clan. There was a dispute between the head and an elder and the latter ran off with documents. He was severely injured and was last seen heading towards Yamagakure, the Village Hidden in the Mountains. She had a 'talk' with Katsu and Keiko had to obey his orders. While the young girl never really bothered speaking with the rest of the clan, it was known to all that her family was a bit of an outcast, spurned and ignored by the rest of the Kaguya Clan.

Because of this, their status in their own clan was rather low and humiliating to say the least. Now, why did the clan head choose Keiko for this mission?

The reasoning was simple. There was a good chance the genin would not stay alive during the mission and it was getting rid of a pest that was clinging to their great and powerful clan. If only they knew.. Coming with Keiko was another of the Kaguya Clan's ninja, a person named Kinji, a chuunin with no particular outstanding talents. The sixteen year old did not have the bloodline with him, but he made up for that with his colorful use of Fuuton techniques. The girl saw Kinji every once in a while on her way heading back home but never really talked to the older boy. She had a feeling that this was a hidden assassination attempt to undermine Keiko's family.

She would not go down without a fight though. During the times she spent outside Akarigakure, the Kaguya trained her bloodline techniques utilizing Shikotsumyaku in secret in case such a situation like this would occur. She just did not expect it to happen soo soon. Or perhaps she was overthinking like she always does and this was simply an honest capture mission. Keiko would be weary for the entire time however.

It was now seven o'clock. The girl had finished preparing her gear to travel out from the hot desert into the colder mountains. She would wait out by the entrance to meet Kinji before heading off to capture Kinryu.

In the distance, before the sound of footsteps would be heard, Keiko saw her 'teammate' Kinji. She greeted him cautiously with a bow once they were close enough to speak to each other. Before they would leave, the girl performed a single handsign, concentrating her chakra to three separate entities. They each had about 10% of her total chakra which was enough to do a few things plus some.

Out came Keika, Keiku, and Kei; her clones took position surrounding the two Kaguya members. Keiku was acting as vanguard, staying in the front to spot any danger in the distance. Kei was the rearguard, protecting their group from the backside, and Keika was in between both Keiko and Kinji. In order, it would be Ku, Ko, Ka, Kinji, and Kei. Nothing would be exchanged between her and the chuunin and the group of five began running towards Yamagakure.

Soo far, all she knew of Kinryu was that he was the father of Kinji and that after his battle with Katsu, became severely injured almost to the point of dying. However, thanks to Kaguya genes, his bones would have 'repaired' themselves by now as the traitor headed towards the snowy Yamagakure. His outer injuries would probably not have had enough time to heal yet and so there were several splotches of dried blood in the sand that kind of led the way towards Kinryu.

Keiko activated Tsuiseki, or Tracking with the intention of following the spotty blood trail that was left on the ground. She had her other clones to watch her back just in case Kinji had any funny ideas. However, it seemed like everything would go according to plan. In the span of a couple of hours, the fading blood trail still lead towards Yamagakure, but the amount and consistency of blood was slowly decreasing. The Kaguya would soon be hard-pressed to follow the trail that Kinryu was leaving behind. The elder was healing and probably had a stash of blood pills with him because of the occasion.

Sooner or later, the trail would run cold and there would be nothing left to follow. Keiko deactivated her tracking and looked around and asked Keika and Kinji on their thoughts. They both mentioned that they were all heading in a straight line towards the mountains although it wavered slightly from time to time. Luckily, Kinji had with him a certain jutsu that allows his to sense chakra ahead of him.

For the time being, they all decided to continue heading straight towards the mountainous region where Yamagakure was located at a faster pace than before, intent on catching up to Kinryu Kaguya to complete the mission.

Keiko and Kinji switched places within the group as the chuunin would have an easier time with sensing without much distractions from her own clones. All he was doing was trying to detect chakra sources in front of him as the group ran forwards, intent on finding his father.

After about ten minutes, they reached the base of the mountains of Yamagakure, already noticing the change in temperature around them. While Akarigakure ninja were used to the desert heat and hot temperatures, the climate around the mountains were temperate. To Keiko, that would mean that the normally good temperature of Yamagakure would feel cold to her. It was said that the highest peaks still have ice and snow falling down upon the mountain.

The vegetation had also changed. Rather than sand, cactus, and tumbleweeds; dried trees, shrubs, and various other plantlife existed in the tundra biome. Further up the mountain was something similar to a taiga biome, with several tall pine trees that never shed a leaf because of their evergreen-like nature. It was here that Keiko and Kinji would slow down their pace; one wrong move could spell the end to them because they were in another country's territory.

The Kaguya would stop the group momentarily and talk about plans heading forwards. Keiku would still remain in the front, checking for traps and any visual cues that could alert them to an enemy. While Kinji was concentrating on sensing chakra, that also meant that he would not be able to sense other things like visual or auditory cues well.

Keiko would be the second pair of eyes that would keep watch to the left and right alongside Keika. Kei would remain as the rearguard keeping an eye on their backside. With the new plan and formation set, the group continued onwards with heading into Yama territory.

"Hey Kinji, we haven't talked much before, but why do you think your father did what he did? I know that it isn't really my business to ask but-"

"You're right," he interrupted, "it is NONE of your business."

Wow, very cold, this guy. She understood though, his father had betrayed the clan and ran away to Yamagakure. Kinji wanted to know why he did it and why he didn't bring him along. The chuunin had more questions than answers and he wanted to find them out when he met his father.

Kinji was focusing more on chakra sensing than any other sense, staying right behind Keiku so as to not lose his way. His plans were to rescue his father Kinryu and figure out the answers that he had questions to. Why did he fight with Katsu? Why did he run away? Why did he steal clan information? Why is he heading to Yamagakure? There were soo many questions he did not have the answer to and the 'lost' child just wanted to be with his father most of all. Family is important.

Keiko was keeping an eye out for anything in particular. The foliage and trees were becoming more dense and greener while the temperature steadily decreased and decreased the higher up the slope they went. Night time in Akarigakure was of course pretty cold as there isn't a lot of water vapor in the air to capture the heat. Because of this, when the sun is no longer in the sky, it quickly becomes cold. Humidity plays an important role in having more temperate weather and Yamagakure and its surrounding mountains was probably the only place that had it.

Kinji quickly stopped in his tracks, followed by Keika and the rest of the group.

"Chakra Signature up ahead. Sixty meters in that direction."

Keiku did a reverse Perception technique, numbing all his other senses down in exchange for increased eye sight. The Kaguya wasn't like the Uchiha or the Hyuuga; they had special eyes. The Kaguya clan was blessed with a stronger body and she was happy with it. It was also a curse in a sense; she was destined to be a Kaguya from birth and these bloodthirsty members of the clan want nothing but to get rid of the peaceful sect that Keiko lives in.

Vanguard Keiku squinted and focused her eyesight in a two o'clock direction, trying to see past all the branches and leaves that blocked her view. It was pointless. The chakra signature wasn't moving, but that didn't mean that it wasn't dead. They should be cautious. Kinji said that it was most definitely a human chakra signature and not that of an animal.

Keiku deactivated her Perception jutsu and slowly moved forward, careful not to make a lot of noise with her feet. Even if she had a light body weight which didn't make a lot of sound normally, the ground was filled with branches and/or pine needles that a sudden snap of a branch could easily alert the person. Single file line, same footstep location as the person in front. This minimized any errors in making any noise. The group was steadily getting closer and closer. Kinji was directing Keiku with hand motions and gestures.

There.

Keiku stopped and lifted her hand up. Through her vision, she could see a solitary figure leaning against the trunk of a tree. The shadowy presence was covered slightly by branches and foliage but the clone could see that it was an adult male. His chest was heaving in and out as if he had a very hard time with breathing.

Kinji put a hand on Keiku's shoulder and motioned that he was going in alone. Normally that would be a bad idea, but Keiko and her clones didn't particularly care for the guy. Even if he was a Kaguya clan member. Plus he was a chuunin, he obviously had more skill and experience with these types of situations than she did. And so, deferring to the older Kaguya's decision, Keiko and her group of clones stayed back and watched as Kinji stealthily moved forward.

A few minutes passed in silence as Keiku and Keiko watched for any signal of any kind to quickly approach to assist the chuunin, but nothing ever came. The girl looked at the trees surrounding them. Thick trees towered over them and left vision in the distance rather hampered. It seemed like an exorbitant amount of time that passed before anything happened. Keiku had spotted movement. Kinji was helping out the adult, his arm wrapped around the chuunin's shoulder for support. They were both heading over here as well slowly. Everyone but Kei was preoccupied with staring at the two figures as they gradually came closer and closer. It was Kinryu. The traitor that fled the Kaguya clan and Akarigakure. His clothes were bloody and the father almost looked on the verge of death.

Keiko couldn't help but feel a tad bit worried for the older man. With his fight with Katsu the clan leader, Kinryu was left with severe injuries that could have killed a regular man. The girl thought that their clan leader simply did it to teach him a lesson, but the 'Kin' family head decided to betray the entire Kaguya clan alongside Akarigakure. Kinji was helping out his father, keeping him upright the entire time they came closer to Keiko and her clones. He looked upon her with clouded eyes and began speaking.

"We're going to head back to Akarigakure and help my father heal up before we go to our home. You'll be-"

Kinji looked a bit to the left and then straight into Keiko's eyes. His expression darkened for a moment but it was all she needed to know that something was amiss.

"Mov-!"

Her only male clone, Kei, blocked a single kunai approaching him at an incredibly fast pace but missed the second which embedded itself deep into his chest. He barely had any time to warn Keiko before disappearing in a flash of embers.

Keiko's worst premonition came true: their clan leader betrayed Keiko's family.

Keiko, Keika, and Keiku all gathered together with their backs to each other and prepared for the oncoming fight. Kinji and Kinryu had dropped the act and drew their own weapons and pointed them towards the females.

"It's time for you to die here so my father and I can get our revenge against Katsu."

"Are you serious? You're going to side with your father who abandoned you and his clan and his village? You-!!"

No, she completely understood the importance of family. Even if they strayed from the correct path, family bonds do not break soo easily. She would do anything, even going against her own clan leader if it meant that her 'family' would be safe. She hid her own abilities from everyone so they wouldn't be further prosecuted and harassed.. Keiko knew that this was a fight that would be very difficult to win.

Another set of three kunai came flying from the forest opposite the direction where Kinji and his father stood. Keiku stepped forwards and batted them all away, the knives sinking into the floor around him. He said that he would take care of the unknown assailant and headed off towards the direction of the kunai, hoping to find the attacker and put an end to his attacks.

In the meantime, Keiko and her remaining clone watched Kinji and Kinryu as they spread out. Kinryu no longer had the weakened look he had when he was brought over. Was he completely fine? Could he have been healed by Kinji himself? No, he must still be weak after all that blood loss. There was also the matter of the unknown attacker that Keiku chased after.

The chuunin, noticing her distracted, quickly flipped through the seals for Kazekiri no Jutsu or the Wind Cutter technique and swung his sword, releasing a large blade of air that fast approached Keiko and her maid. They both dashed forward and ducked in time as the ground, tree trunks, and snow was carved with the attack.

Keiko quickly shifted gears and began retaliating, flipping through the seals for her custom technique, Firespike. It was a jutsu she created after watching Ninigi of the Uchiha perform his Great Fireball technique against her. She increased the amount of chakra used that she stored into her fist to amass a sizeable amount of fire chakra to shoot at her opponent. After a single second, she shot her fist out and released her Hikasui jutsu. The large bolt of fire swiftly sailed towards Kinji's location but the chuunin quickly dodged the attack. Her firebolt collided with the trunk of a tree, releasing the explosiveness that was inside, tearing the bark and surrounding branches off as well as setting fire to the nearby wood. Even in the cold climate and moistness of the trees, it had still ignited afire. It goes to show that her jutsu was that deadly but it still missed its target.

Kinryu and Kinji followed up with another set of handseals and performed them at the same time, shooting several air bullets from their mouth. Keiko and Keika split into different directions, dodging and weaving through the attacks. Those Keiko weren't able to dodge were blocked by an extremely hard set of bone that lay just below the layer of her skin. The Kaguya activated her Shikotsumyaku ability and formed her 'bone armor' to resist the attacks. While normally, Kuudan was capable of breaking bones, the normal Kaguya member had stronger bones compared to a regular human's. Coupled with the fact that Keiko had their bloodline ability which allowed her to strengthen her bones to that of steel like qualities, this jutsu technique was ineffective at doing its job.

Keika on the other hand was a clone that didn't have the same amount of durability that her owner had. She focused on speed to dodge the attacks brought forth by the family pair. While running around, she flipped through her handseals for her own Hikasui technique, adding even more chakra to give it a special effect. She shot it out at Kinryu who dodged the jutsu while continuously firing his own bullets. Keika held her hand in a particular way all the while dodging the constant barrage of attacks. She smiled.

The previously forgotten bolt of fire she launched at Kinryu had smacked right into the head of the elder Kaguya. It exploded in a grand fashion releasing fire everywhere.

A jutsu that allowed one to control to a certain extent the pathing of their fire, Keika manipulated her fireball after initially 'missing' Kinryu by bringing it higher into the sky before dive-bombing directly on top of the elder. The moment it collided, the explosive fire spread out quickly enveloping the traitor along with the nearby twigs and the like. What remained of the elder was in fact a burnt Kinji, his Henge dissipating back to its true form.

Keiko, after seeing the truth behind the facade, quickly glanced in the direction of her other clone Keiku and the hidden attacker. The identity of that person could have been the real elder. She didn't have much time to think about the situation over there considering Kinji with his other clone were still here as well. In terms of rank, he was higher, but Keiko had something the older Kaguya could never hope to achieve. If she could get in close to utilize hand to hand combat, the game would be over.

She had to kill Kinji if she showed him Shikotsumyaku. No one is allowed to know. After dodging and blocking a few of the Air Bullets, the Kaguya began steadily closing in on Kinji's clone. She kept her emerald eyes on the chuunin while dancing in the snowy field. By this time, he began to realize how ineffective his jutsu was. Even if they hurt a lot when they connected with her arms when blocking them, Keiko persevered and ignored the aching pain that was slowly accumulating in her limbs.

Meanwhile, Keiko's own clone didn't have much more chakra to use for herself and was beginning to feel exhausted. However, she pushed as far as she could just so she could buy a few more seconds for the original. It could mean the difference between life and death. Keika poured her energy and soul over keeping Kinji distracted until Keiko could deal with the chuunin's clone.

Fire roared through the air and twisted and turned, but Kinji was now prepared for the attacks. Despite being hit by her fire bolt head on, the chuunin suffered minor injuries somewhat? Or perhaps he had healed them during the course of the fight. In any case, it did not look like the Hikasui jutsu he was hit with affected him that much. The older Kaguya kept weaving and dodging, jumping and ducking to avoid being hit by the explosive balls of fire that were coming at him.

Keiko was steadily approaching the chuunin's clone on the other hand, hoping to drag him in to fight barehanded. The girl was cloaked with a body of bone just underneath her skin. This allowed her take the punishment dealt by the Kuudan Air Bullets shot out of the clone's mouth. Even if her 'skin' would be damaged somewhat, her internal organs, muscles, and bones would all be safe from harm.

The clone finally gave up on trying to fight at a distance, figuring out that he would soon run out of chakra at the rate he was going and decided to change tactics. After flipping through a few seals, Kinji's clone activated another technique. A torrent of air encircled the entirety of his arms which led the Kaguya girl to believe that it enhanced his hand to hand combat skills and possibly shooting out bullets from that too. Concentrating and reading his movements carefully, Keiko entered CQC.

Finally. Now, if she could pull off the tactic well, Kinji would have no idea how his clone was defeated aside from the fact that he 'died' from physical contact. Keiko was thinking about blocking a strike and counterattacking with a hit to his stomach. From there, she would activate Shikotsumyaku and let her bones grow from her knuckles, shoot out several bone shards into the body of Kinji, and banish it from existence. She would also need to retract the bones just as quickly to not let him know that she had the ability to use their clan's bloodline.

With this in mind, the fifteen year old girl would begin her assault on the chuunin, using a combination of striking and blocking alongside dodging and weaving to put the pounding into Kinji. The clone was effortlessly blocking most of her strikes, utilizing his 'tornado arms' to create gashes on Keiko's arms and hands. She was simply looking for the right opportunity to counter his attack and end him.

While the real Kinji and Keiko's clone were preoccupied with themselves quite a distance away, Keiko herself was engaged in hand to hand combat with the chuunin's clone. Despite being a clone, he was doing extremely well at suppressing the girl to this point. Then again, the Kaguya's own clones were also extremely proficient at performing tasks themselves.

Deciding to bait it out and play a risky maneuver, after being whacked by the clone's tornado arm, Keiko feinted and left an opening near her stomach. She extended her arm out a bit wider than normal as well as 'wince' in pain so that it would be obvious that his strike affected her a great deal more. Taking the chance to deal a considerable blow to Keiko, Kinji's clone punched forward with his right fist with all his might at the opening that he thought he created.

It was now or never. She side-stepped to the left and closed in, deftly bring her outstretched hand to the clone's chest. As soon as it made contact, she forcefully sent in her radius bone that has been strengthened and sharpened to penetrate easily. Once inside, she focused chakra and released several bone shards that shot out in every direction inside the clone, dealing massive internal damage. Keiko just as quickly retracted her bone back into her own body as the clone disappeared into a cloud of air.

With just a small amount of reprieve, Keiko took the time to perform breathing exercises and calming herself down before she had to refocus and fight against Kinji Kaguya. The skin on her arms were bruised and were cut in some places, leaking blood from the open wounds. Because there was a layer of bone right underneath her dermis, most of the tissues and blood vessels that would have normally been ruptured escaped harm, her steel-like bones taking the brunt of the attacks in its stead.

Regular solid clones were weaker than their original counterparts. If Keiko had to fight against the chuunin himself, the fight would be a lot tougher compared to the regular clones. It was now that she would team up with Keika and take down the traitor's son. She rushed forwards, weaving through the trees to catch up to Keika who was struggling against the more experienced Kaguya ninja. Just before she got there, tragedy struck.

Kinji had gotten in close to the maid clone and dealt a finishing blow to her head. Keiko saw the pain in her eyes before she disappeared in a cloud of white fire. It was just two Kaguyas now pitted against each other. One was a chuunin and the other was a genin with a hidden bloodline.

Keiko thought of how she could get in close to the chuunin Kaguya without suffering too much injuries in the process. Once she was close enough, she would activate her bloodline Shikotsumyaku and finish him off with a series of lethal strikes. All the training she did in secret, all the hours and days spent honing each and every movement, it would all come down to the last few seconds when she would get close to Kinji.

She became distracted by the thought of how her other remaining clone Keiku was faring against the elder Kaguya. Would her clone have been able to make significant progress in keeping the elder busy or even overwhelming the traitor? What would happen if Keiku was already defeated and the father was already lying in wait waiting for the best moment to strike? Kinji's sudden movement brought her back to the present and Keiko prepared to defend against him.

He flipped through a series of handseals that was different from the Air Bullets from before. Instead, a torrent of wind enveloped his arms and legs as Kinji rushed at her. It was the technique that his clone had performed against her. This time, it was the real person performing it. It was highly likely that the damage output and potential of the technique would be at an even bigger scale compared to his clone.
