The sun beat down on Akarigakure mercilessly, but to those who grew up in this environment it was just another warm and sunny day out. Clear skies as far as the eye could see (well most eyes anyway, damn fancy eyeballs) with a light breeze to keep the air from being too stifling. Between the buildings there was plenty of shade for those less predisposed to this kind of weather, or for things that had to be kept cool. The streets where Vivian walked in particular were lined with market stalls that protected their products from the elements which incidentally did the same to their customers.

If she had to pick a single place in the whole village that felt the most like home to her it was right here in the markets. The merchants bringing their produce from around the world to barter and sell, the various scents and sounds along with the warmth of her village all coalesced together to give her a feeling of contentment in a way that no other place could. Her parents had only lead the lives of merchants as a cover as she had recently found out but that was the life she remembered. When she had been a little girl this was the life she imagined for herself as she grew up. Whenever she came here she always made sure to wear civilian clothing so she could feel closer to the merchants. It was one of the few times she wasn't wearing at least some piece of her usual uniform.

As Vivian examined a spice stand she remembered herself telling her parents that she was going to buy a boat and trade on the seas because she liked the sound of being a captain, and a faint smile crossed her face. She still hadn't had a chance to so much as be on a boat, let alone own one. Perhaps some dreams would always remain just dreams, and she was fine that as long as the important ones were fulfilled. Admittedly her perspective on what held importance had shifted greatly in the last few years but still she was fairly confident that with what she knew now her focus was spent on less frivolous things.

Zau liked the market. He didn't own much anymore-that kind of came with the territory of being a monk, even if he was only a pseudo-monk-but it was a fun place to hang out, nonetheless. Plus, there was food-monks still had to eat, after all. Zau had been eating rather well these days; he was still paid for his ninja work, but living ascetically meant that most of his money could only go to things like food.

So, as he was walking the streets of the market, he had several food items with him; teriyaki beef on a stick, a bunch of apples, various other things...he honestly had lost track.

Zau saw Vivian in the streets, and, lacking anything else to do, approached and offered her one of his food things. He probably should be eating less anyways. Months of living at the monastery, eating only rice and root vegetables with minimal sauce had left him completely unprepared for his return to society.

"The food here is so much better than what they serve at the monastery."

Vivian looked up slowly at the sound of Zau's voice. Accepting the food gratefully she bit into it and savored the taste with a blissful look on her face. She had no way of knowing what the quality of food was like at Zau's monastery, but she was willing to bet the variety there had no way of comparing with what was on display here. How could it? Walk ten feet in any direction and you were likely to find something new and interesting.

"Hey how's it going? Want to walk with me for awhile? I just got here, but it looks like you've been hitting the food stalls pretty heavily."

Teasing Zau as she walked away from the spices Vivian went to look at the stand next to it which looked like it sold a variety of herbs. Pausing in front of the stand she took her time and looked over all of them on account of not bringing a list with her. She often came here on a whim and today was no exception which meant she had only her memory to work with when trying to figure out what was missing back home. Finishing off the food Zau had given her she tossed any inedibles in the trash before picking up four small bags filled with satchels of the herbs she needed. Giving a handful of coins over to the merchant she put the bags filled with smaller bags inside of a larger bag she had been carrying. Bags for days. Slinging it all over her shoulder she looked out at the bustling street .

"Anything you need or are we just doing my route?"

Zau shrugged. He didn't have anything going on, really. His training for the day was done, he didn't have any missions; he had come here mostly out of boredom. Of course, now he was here out of mostly gluttony, but as far as sins go, sloth and gluttony weren't the WORST ones he could fall back on.

"Your route's fine. I don't really NEED much anymore. The monks kind of broke me of that whole "personal property" thing."

That being said, as previously mentioned, Zau was all about that food. He extracted another stick complete with some sort of meat and started biting chunks off.

"They also support a vegetarian lifestyle. I'm...not a great monk."

All of the cooking she has prepared for herself and her family for the past week made her refrigerator empty like an idiot's mind. No.. Empty like a bird's nest in December. Hmm.. Empty as a homeless man's wallet. Nailed it. Although Keiko's wallet herself wasn't empty, her fridge was, and she needed a trip to the marketplace to restock on ingredients and supplies. The girl fourteen year old girl had enough money on her person to buy all the things she needed; she has accomplished a couple of missions that has earned her enough of an income to provide some assistance to her family.

Although the Kaguya clan was relatively powerful and well-known in its own right, her blood family was a bit shunned from the rest. Not being directly descended from the clan leader tends to cast shame onto the others. However, Keiko did not mind. She and her family were in peace with the other clan members and her family was happy.

The fourteen year old was dressed in simple stylish attire: with a white t-shirt and white shoes, she wore blue denim overalls over it and had her hair tied up and parted to the right. Strapped around her chest was a light brown, leather bag that held her purse and other personal belongings. It wasn't a black hole inside the bag either; everything was neatly organized and easy to access.

Several merchants were already outside lined up with their wares proudly displayed.

"Veggies, veggies, and fruits. Then some beef perhaps? Spices too!"

Keiko already had in mind what type of food she would make for the next few days as well as snacks like cookies for break times. She was running low on flour and some chocolate chips too. Might as well buy those too. She would walk upon two teenagers on a date and green eyes would examine them, blink, and smile. The girl still didn't have the mindset of being interested in anyone else romantically, but companionship was something she could understand. After all, having lived most of her life in hiding and away from society, she only recently got to explore the outside world of Akarigakure and met several peers her age that she loves very much. It was an amazing experience and although she was still shy in some ways, she was trying to change herself.

Cocking an eyebrow at her teammates remark Vivian shook her head with an amused look on her face.

"That's because you're not a monk. You're a shinobi of the Hidden Light. Can't expect a shinobi to function on just turnips and cabbages or whatever it is that the monks have been feeding you."

It felt good to meet up like this and just talk. There were no immediately pressing matters to attend to, no akuma that needed slaying or reckless teammates that needed their random charge halted. It all felt so bizarrely... normal. It was then that Vivian realized just how little they really had talked among themselves. Always there was a mission, or training, or some official business to deal with. Now that there wasn't she felt weird. Perhaps weird in a good way, but what exactly did normal people talk about? Making a show of looking over a bag of potatoes Vivian finally looked back up at Zau.

"Say Zau... this might come off as a little random, but what do you think of lady Kazue? Just whatever comes to mind."

Zau merely shrugged and kept eating, tagging along behind Vivian as she did her chores. She seemed to be thinking about something regarding a bag of potatoes. Zau blanched at the thought-potatoes were one of the few foods the monks did regularly eat, and he was, quite simply, done with potatoes. If he didn't have to see another potato for the next few months, it would be too soon.

Vivian had questions about their sensei. That was weird. Zau swallowed the bite he was working on and shrugged again. "She's alright, I guess. Wish she taught Jash to use his head more than his Chidori, but she's strong, and she can put down an Akuma. Why do you ask?"

Beyond that, Zau didn't have much to do. His RPer didn't do conversational posts very often, and this was admittedly a weakness of his. Zau's brow furrowed for a moment-what the heck was an RPer? And why did Zau have one? Was it contagious? The world may never know.

After watching the two chuunin for about a couple of minutes, she looked away and began minding her own business. She came here to do shopping for ingredients after all. It was during this period of time that she considered getting a sealing item to store any and all of her belongings should she not need to use it at that specific moment in time. In addition to saving a lot of potential weight that she would normally have to carry, Keiko can also organize and pull out whatever she needed very quickly with a fuuinjutsu seal.

She would head over to an accessories shop that sold various manners of trinkets such as necklaces, rings, and other jewelry and pick out a few of her favorites from each category. After deciding which ones she liked appearance-wise, the Kaguya then weeded out ones that would be inefficient for storage. This meant that the necklaces and earrings were not suited for it. Rings, bangles, and bracelets were the remaining categories. Two accessories stood out from the rest. One was a silver ring with a purple-colored gem embedded into it. The other was another silver colored bracelet that had several aqua blue-colored gems inlaid into the exterior of the jewelry.

After confirming the gems inside to be amethysts and aquamarine, Keiko decided to purchase both of the items for herself. The girl smiled as she continued on with her shopping.
