The sun had barely begun to rise when the red clad ANBU arrived. She had previously marked the location in preparation for today with her seal and as such the act of making her way down here was performed with but a thought. Unable to locate her training partner Vivian shrugged and began working on a series of stretches while she waited.

There was precious little on this plot of land which was precisely why it had been chosen. Both herself and Zau were looking to let loose for awhile and bring to bear new techniques that had yet to be tested. There was nowhere in the village that would be safe to do such a thing. Should either of them misfire... they were both well past the point where all it would cause is a few broken bones.

Setting herself down on the ground Vivian began to meditate with her eyes closed once her stretches were done. On the outside she seemed perfectly calm and unperturbed, her breathing slowing steadily until it would seem almost as though she had stopped. Only the slight movement of her bangs in the windless environment gave away the illusion.

Zau didn't have any flashy entrance jutsu he could use, nor did he feel the need to hide his presence. Besides, it was the desert-there would be nothing for miles around, except for the man steadily walking towards the prearranged training ground.

At his present pace, it would take Zau about five minutes to reach Vivian, but if the delay bothered him, it didn't show on his face. Not that he was close enough to anyone for anyone to have noticed, but still, he was not possessed of any particular sense of urgency at the moment.

~~~
When he finally did arrive, he would dab at his sweaty forehead with his sleeve, cleaning himself up a bit. He arrived fully stocked as he would be for a mission, his sword on his hip and his censer dangling from his left arm. The bandages around his forearms held the seals for his Shuriken. He noted that he hardly used shuriken anymore-not the usual sort, anyways.
"How's it going, Viv?"
Vivian heard Zau approaching well before he arrived but made no move to acknowledge it. From how he was walking with no hurry he was clearly in no rush, and it wasn't as if she needed him to. Not until her fellow teammate was within talking distance and greeted her would she stir from her meditation. Getting up slowly first to one knee and then standing she looked him over.
"Can't complain, been worse. You? Ready to do this?"
It was a frivolous question judging from the armament he carried with him but she never did know what to say when it came to small talk. She'd much rather have a conversation with purpose or not at all, although there were some she made an exception for out of respect for what they'd been through together. Reaching into her equipment pouch and pulling out her forehead protector she fastened it in its proper place. While in service to the ANBU her usual habit was to not have it at all as it was simply a liability. Now was a different matter with only herself and her friend here.
Taking a small sip of water from a flask held at her side she held the liquid in her mouth as if savoring it before swallowing slowly. Knowing Zau she wasn't going to get to hold back much and it wouldn't do to get sick in the middle of their spar, but neither would it be a good idea to go into it dehydrated. Holding out the flask to see if he wanted a drink too she'd wait for his response to her earlier question.
Zau shook his head no in regard to the water. He was plenty hydrated, despite his walk and the sweat. In any case, he didn't see much of a reason for it; chasing after Vivian, he knew, was a useless venture anyways, so this event of theirs would likely be relatively low-effort, at least as far as physical movement went. It would be mostly mental exhaustion here, he knew.
"I suppose so. Be quick with your teleports, and go wide when you do. The things I want to try out are a bit more...explodey."
Zau shrugged and put his hands together in a seal, eager to get this process started. Five clones burst to life around his body. Two clones darted forward, each intent on attacking Vivian with taijutsu; specifically, one would be attacking low with a Hiji [Elbow] aimed at the spot just above her knee, the other would be attacking high with a Mawashigeri [Roundhouse Kick] aimed at her face.
Two of the clones Zau created that sat down and began absorbing Natural chakra. Zau and the last remaining clone performed a series of handseals and each extended their right hands towards Vivian. A pair of spectral hands manifested behind Vivian; one grabbed at her hair, the other wrapped its fingers around the back of her throat. (Chakarate [Chakra Open Hand]) Neither was especially strong, but Zau didn't need strength, he just needed Vivian to be...held up (HA) a moment.
The fight was on!
Vivian shrugged in a movement that basically said 'suit yourself' before tossing the water and its container to the side. No point in carrying it around unless she planned to drown Zau in a flasks worth of liquid. Smirking at his comment she held out both hands palms facing upwards.
"Aren't I always?"
As clones burst forth around Zau the first thing Vivian did was activate her Byakugan. It had been some time since that... incident. She still hadn't found the time or indeed the words to talk about it with her friends, and perhaps the right time would never come. The only way to describe it was downright eerie with what looked like another transparent Zau imposed over the actual Zau. The light it gave off was brighter than most, at least most in their line of work. Looking at her own ethereal form extending just past her skin it was clear the light shone much dimmer. She had no idea what exactly that meant but she was willing to bet it probably wasn't a good thing.
Tugging loose one of the sasumata from its holster on her back Vivian walked leisurely forward as the duo of clones closed in. With the clone aiming near her knee with its elbow being horrendously unbalanced by the act it was attempting to perform and the other clone being off to the side in clear cleaving territory it would look obvious what her plan would be as her weapon begun to swing in a deadly diagonal arc that would cut through both clones lowermost clone first. However the chakra hands that materialized in her vicinity posed a problem that didn't have a graceful solution unless she cheated just a little bit.
Utilizing the seal that was already present on Zau from over a year ago Vivian would teleport behind him and let go of the sasumata in a direct trajectory for the sitting clones as the weapon spun in a deadly arc. Her other hand would be on Zau-prime's shoulder where the seal was but thanks to her Light Touch that physical contact was unlikely to be detected. Moreover unless the gathering clones had exceptional spidey-senses she felt confident enough the thrown sasumata would deal with the chakra generators, and if not it wasn't as if she could deny Zau that resource the entire fight. Delaying it was enough for now.
The same hand that threw the sasumata would in that same motion reach around to the front of Zau's throat with an untagged kunai now in its place, the smaller weapon smoothly sliding in place from its concealed location in her sleeve to her hand where she used it to lightly tap his bare skin. Vivian's voice carried a tone of annoyance as she seemed to chastise him for his choice of technique.
"You know how I feel about grabby hands. That's not how you treat a lady."
"Well, in my experience, ladies don't usually point sharp things at people's necks."
Vivian had slashed at the approaching clones, easily incapacitating them just as Zau expected. He hadn't expected her to deal with his absorbing clones quite so quickly, but it wasn't entirely out of the question to seriously catch him off-guard. However, Vivian had neglected to deal with the fifth clone, the one that, along with Zau, had attempted to wield the chakra hand against Viv.
That clone thrust its arm forward, releasing a flock of sparrows from within its sleeve via the Sen'ei Suzume [Hidden Shadow Sparrows]. These sparrows dove towards Vivian, with a few intentionally diving for the kunai at Zau's throat. Their wings were coated with Wind-type chakra, allowing them to cut like a passing shuriken as they flew past. Zau dashed towards his birds as they kept the offending kunai at bay, relying on the sparrows to cover his retreat towards his remaining clone.
Said clone hopped up as Zau dove in; Zau reached up and grabbed the clone's shirt and tossed it forward after the birds (Bunshin Taiatari [Clone Body Blow]), and the clone simultaneously reached for its sword. It would bring the blade to bear across Vivian's arm with an Omotegiri [Front Beheading] as it flew through the air, following the wake of the sparrows.
Of course, it was a blunted sword-but even so, a solid blow would hurt like hell-metal was still metal, after all.
Immediately after tossing the clone, Zau would re-manifest his Chakarate [Chakra Open Hand], grasping Vivian's discarded sasumata with the spectral hand and tossing it back to Zau. Zau spun on the ball of his foot, using his other leg to strike and spin the sasumata, before catching it with his right hand and twirling the weapon quickly behind his back, suddenly stopping its rotation against his own back. He extended his left hand outwards towards Vivian, now in a proper stance. The "blades" of the sasumata were positioned against Zau's back, ready to be used against Vivian should she try the "appear behind Zau's back" trick again.
"So that seal of yours is still there, after all this time? I have to admit, that's pretty annoying."
"Clearly you're spending your time with the wrong kinds of ladies."
Vivian released Zau as he broke free to get to his clone, her hands forming a seal that both of them would be very familiar with. Nine clones would come to life around her, the first of which would stand directly in front of her and take the brunt of the sparrow jutsu. Using its enhanced durability while estimating that it only had a few seconds left to last the same clone would charge to meet Zau's sword wielding clone with a kunai in hand drawn from its sleeve. Unlike the last one Vivian had pulled out this one had an exploding tag wrapped around the handle that would be hidden by her hand until the moment she detonated it, which would be as soon as she was in range and certain to get hit by the sword.
The main body would use this time to form a short set of handseals this time causing water to build up in the air around them until the resultant [Hidden Mist] shrouded her actions. It was an old trick, but one she had only gotten better at as time wore on. All of her remaining clones would spread out and keep their distance waiting for their marks. They weren't interested in attacking Zau but would instead track down and assassinate any Zau clones that seemed to be interested in gathering chakra. Of course, their senses weren't perfect. They only had their hearing to work with, going so far as to close their eyes to further heighten that sense. Any stationary target that wasn't one of them would incite suspicion.
"As far as I know that seal will never fade. None of them will."
Vivian's voice came from the same place behind Zau relative to him as last time, but that was only thanks to her [Sound Throwing Technique]. Meanwhile her actual body was directly above him in an upside-down position. Aiming to strike at his head with a [Leopard Paw] Vivian would vanish the same way she appeared to somewhere else within the mist.
Zau sighed at the revelation that the seal was always going to be there-his fights with Vivian were going to become a good deal more exhausting than they used to be. Zau flicked his wrist, reflexively sending the sasumata out away from his back, in case Vivian came from that direction. Immediately after, Zau brought the sasumata to bear in front of him, while he ducked forward. He didn't know where Vivian was going to be attacking from, but he knew it was no longer safe to stay still. He'd seen the multiple angles Vivian could attack someone from with that seal. His best choice-especially since she was using THAT DAMNED MIST-was to keep on the move.
When Zau came out of his roll, he spun on his heel and swung the sasumata up, then continued his spin and released the the weapon, letting it soar towards one of the sets of footprints he heard. As he released the weapon, he allowed one of the blades to graze his thumb-a mistake to a novice, a shortcut to a master. He performed a series of handseals and executed another roll away from his position and most of the footfalls, placing his hand on the floor as he rolled.
A burst of smoke would be Sasaki's greeting. Sasaki looked around lazily before realizing he couldn't see anything. He nodded-he knew now why Zau had summoned him. Sasaki waddled in place, turning his body around to face away from Zau. Sasaki beat his wings once, releasing his Daikamaitachi no Jutsu [Great Sickle Weasel Technique] in the direction of most of Vivian's clones. The technique was powerful enough to level whole sections of forest; no matter how durable Vivian's clones were, it would be enough to cut them apart. More importantly though, it would serve to momentarily disperse the mist in that area. Sasaki rode the backdraft of the technique, letting it carry him into the sky. "Who is it this time, Zau?"
Zau skid to a halt and reversed his run, heading towards the thinned section of mist after the blades of wind fell away. At least here, he could see for a few moments. "Just Viv. Don't hold back though. She EARNED IT WITH THIS DAMN MIST. MISS VIVIAN SENJU-HYUUGA. I'M MAD AT YOU NOW."
Zau's sudden movement threw off her timing before she could get in a good whack much to her annoyance. Next time she'd have to get in two whacks to make up for it. Circling cautiously from within the mist Vivian watched as Zau went through the motions to bring forth a summon and blow away a chunk of her mist. It would reform in due time, but for now he would have territory he could move around in with some semblance of control.
Vivian had no idea how on earth Sasaki knew the location of her clones seeing as they were just as well hidden as she was, but seeing as their target hadn't even had the decency to present itself she could make use of their chakra instead. Drawing a senbon she prepared a [Palm of Life] and tapped the center of the weapon dispersing her chakra into it. The jounin threw her voice again as she approached the duo from within the part of the mist that remained.
"Calling me by my full name when you're upset with me? Ok there DAD."
Drawing two untagged kunai as well as her special senbon from her reserves Vivian threw the larger weapons at the pair, one at each of them. She then threw her senbon to the side at an angle that would keep it within the mist but not take it further away from her marks. Giving the kunai the brief moment of time needed to break through the mist as they flew towards Zau and his summon Vivian would teleport to the senbon she had just thrown and then proceed to throw the senbon that had been prepared with [Palm of Life]. The senbon would likely be harder to hear, especially in comparison to the kunai being used as a diversion. The Palm senbon would be aimed at Sasaki and would detonate before actually hitting her, turning the projectile from a senbon into a 2 foot wide mass of wood.
Zau darted towards the now cleared section of air, knowing that he wouldn't have much time before it refilled. Once he reached the open air, he finally activated his Sharingan, then spun around to face Vivian again. Zau's eyes couldn't see through the mist, but he clearly saw the kunai. A kunai?
Zau easily sidestepped the weapon, though he was somewhat confused by it; Vivian had more in her arsenal than some boring kunai, surely. Zau's eyes widened as he got hit by a hunch. "Sasaki, another blast!"
Sasaki didn't hesitate; he launched another wave of Daikamaitachi, likely catching the senbon with the blast, which would then basically explode into...trees? Well, that was odd. Unfortunately, the mist was beginning to thicken up again, which would again put Zau at a pretty significant disadvantage.
"Hey Viv, I know you really love your stupid mist and all, but don't you think practicing our new jutsu might work a little better if we could aim right? That WAS the point today, right?"
Zau performed a series of handseals regardless of her response, and in the direction of Vivian (or at least, the direction that tree-senbon had come from), he launched a series of fireballs with his Katon: Housenka no Jutsu [Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Flower Technique]. He knew, even as he fired it, that there was no way those fireballs would catch Vivian-she was too fast with her teleportation jutsu. That being said, to his knowledge, there was only one place for her to teleport to on this battlefield. Zau mentally counted in his head, then suddenly snapped back, kicking hard behind him, where he expected Vivian to teleport to, if she was going to teleport.
Of course, if she didn't, Zau was going to look rather silly, kicking at air.
It was overall fairly annoying for all parties involved if Vivian continued to fight as an ANBU. That was a fighting style that was never intended for a friendly spar, it hardly lent itself well for training either. At the very least she would need someone similarly trained for it to be a learning experience, as it was all she had learned was that even with all the time that had passed since they were genin Zau still hadn't found an answer for hidden mist beyond temporary measures. He really needed to get on that.
With Zau firing off a jutsu at her location Vivian teleported herself to the kunai he had sidestepped previously and picked it up while watching him comically kicking at air. It brought her satisfaction knowing that her technique wrought such paranoia. Just a little satisfaction. Flipping through a series of handseals she threw her voice once more to somewhere else off in the mist.
"Uh... I can aim just fine. This sounds like a you problem. Maybe if you didn't rely on those eyes of yours so much you wouldn't be in this predicament. Well whatever. You're right, genin parlor tricks aren't what we're here to practice. This is what you wanted to see right?"
Finishing her handseals Vivian allowed to mist to evaporate naturally. Normally naturally would mean it should still take awhile to dissipate even without the maintenance from her jutsu but the sudden displacement of air from what she was about to do would likely clear it much quicker. No longer bothering to hide the location of her voice she braced herself and shouted with a hint of glee, remembering their first mission together and how ridiculous Zau and Jash had sounded doing the exact same thing. She was having fun now, may as well just go all out.
"Mokuton Hijutsu: Jukai Koutan!"
Holding the snake seal Vivian sent her chakra through the earth all around them and converting said chakra into life. A sudden explosion of plant life all around them for a half mile in every direction would occur, completely changing the battlefield in the process. The kunoichi would almost look to be surfing a vine as it transported her into the upper foliage. Zau would find that the vegetation around him was less amiable as it actively sought to crush, entangle or otherwise be generally annoying and plant-like.
Zau's kick connected with air-of course, he thought. Most of Vivian's weapons were probably marked, so she could warp to any of them-including the kunai she threw. Zau prepared himself for some more blind fighting-mercifully, however, the mist cleared shortly after Vivian mocked him for relying on his eyes.
"Bah. You're the only one so far who can actually deal with it, and it's not like I'm going to have to fight you to the death anytime soon."
No sooner had he said that did Vivian shout the name of her new jutsu. There was something akin to a small earthquake, and then, where there had been only desert before, there were now strange, twisting trees, gracefully carrying Vivian away, and doing their level best to crush Zau. Maybe I spoke too soon.
Zau leaped backwards into the air, catching one of the rising limbs as it rose. As soon as his feet landed on it, more branches erupted forth, seeking to ensnare his legs. Zau wasted no time in leaping off again, repeating the process, hopping to different limbs out of the way of the chasing ones, then hopping off of those as they became new weapons used against him. He could not find a reprieve from these damned trees!
No choice, I guess...have to use that jutsu.
Zau brought his hands together in a seal Vivian would recognize as Kage Bunshin no Jutsu [Shadow Clone Technique] as he was in midair, and formed a single clone beside him. The clone immediately began forming a Rasengan above him, which Zau immediately supplemented with his own Katon chakra. The Rasengan became slightly larger and became a brighter, luminous blue as Zau's flames filled and enveloped the sphere of chakra. Four blades elongated out from the sphere and began rotating rapidly as the technique began emitting an odd sound, somewhere between a warble and a whistle.
Sasaki, who had been flying overhead at this point, noticed what Zau was doing-and once he did, his eyes widened and he started flapping furiously to get as far away as possible. These two are absolutely insane. Sasaki had witnessed this jutsu in practice once or twice, and he had absolutely zero desire to ever be within fifty feet of the outer range of this jutsu.
Zau grabbed the clone's arm and pulled him towards him, positioning the real Zau's body beneath that of the clone. Zau would then reach back with both arms, grabbing the clone by its shirt, and pull hard, launching the clone powerfully forward with Bunshin Taiatari [Clone Body Blow], simultaneously using the clone to push off backwards, away from a new wave of tree limbs doing their best to grind him into a sticky red paste.
The clone, armed with the massive shuriken weapon, soared between tree limbs, aiming to reach the lowest possible point. When it finally became clear that the clone could no longer avoid the trees, it shifted its arm forward, striking the tree with its attack before the trees could strike it. The resultant explosion of brilliant white-blue flames rocked the landscape, covering a massive range-one Zau was very careful to get out of the range of, between his leap off of his clone and his clone's insistence on getting as far down as possible. If Vivian's Byakugan were more precise, it would have been able to see that the massive explosion was not, in fact, one explosion-rather, it was billions of microscopic ones, blasting Vivian's trees apart on a cellular level. When the blast cleared, Vivian's trees were gone-in fact, everything was. All that remained was a large crater, the sand that had been within having been glassed over.
Zau fell down inside the crater after the blast cleared. As his body landed, he heard the crunch of newly created glass beneath him, and pushed himself back up to a standing position. Zau marveled at the destruction he wrought-not a jutsu he could ever use on a person, but this could definitely hurt an Akuma and defeat just about any defense. He exhaled deeply and called out to Vivian.
"Yours was neat. Mine is called Katon: Rasenshuriken."
Vivian watched as Zau maneuvered through the animated forest and prepared his retaliatory jutsu. She knew enough about his line of signature jutsu to recognize the design, but certainly not the scope of this new technique. Giving it a wide berth would allow her to see it in action from a safe distance, a choice that she was grateful for once the Rasenshuriken was actually launched. Even from her safe distance and shielded by her trees she could still feel the shockwave. A large part of her jutsu was razed with no sign of it being left beyond the smoking crater that stood where the forest once did. Of all the jutsu in her arsenal there wasn't anything she had that could block it, her one saving grace if she ever had to face such a technique was her ability to simply... leave.
Raising her left hand as Zau named his own technique Vivian made a sharp upwards motion, directing the trees to close the open scar left behind in the devastation. Roots began to force their way through the glassed over sand from the surrounding trees, roots that would soon form full trees of their own. As long as her chakra was connected with this forest it would continue to heed her commands and restructure itself as she saw fit. It was a taxing jutsu by any standard, but until she had encountered Zau's Rasenshuriken she had never come across anything that could so much as give it pause. Another sharp hand motion in Zau's direction sent dozens of spear-like tendrils flying his way. Vivian then spread her arms wide and allowed herself to plunge forward in a free-fall, although before any of that she would call out to her partner.
"Impressive... you're not done with just that, are you?"
Letting gravity do all the work Vivian would plummet towards Zau, using Jukai Koutan to block any ranged attacks he might launch her way with growths from the trees. Once she was close enough to the ground a tendril would form that she could surf a la Tarzan directly towards Zau. A barrage of tagged and primed kunai would cover her advance as she swept forwards into melee ready to make full use of her Snake Tongue technique with a focus on taking out Zau's arms. All the while the surrounding vegetation would do its level best to run interference; shifting under Zau's feet, lashing out at his body, or interposing itself between him and his strikes.
"You'd like that, wouldn't you?!" That was about the best Zau could offer as a retort-to be completely honest, that was his most powerful technique, and it only slowed her forest down-not exactly a homerun. However, there were still tricks Zau had up his sleeves-including one that Vivian only just made possible.
Zau brought his hands together in a single seal for Shunshin no Jutsu [Body Flicker Technique] as Vivian leaped into the air. He seemingly suicidally dashed towards Vivian and her trees. It didn't quite clear the distance, but as Vivian was falling, it aided tremendously in getting Zau close enough to pull off what he really wanted. He knelt down to the ground, pressing his hands against the cracking glass, and suddenly pushed off, vanishing from Vivian's sight just as the spears, roots, and other assorted murder attempts crashed through the ground he had been in moments prior.
Zau would appear behind Vivian, also in a freefall, as a result of his Kage Buyou [Shadow of the Dancing Leaf]. He thrust both of his palms out at her quickly, releasing both his Kazete and Sen'ei Suzume jutsu at the same time; the birds would be launched directly towards Vivian's back, and the wind palm would serve to launch those birds even faster; additionally, the wind palm would knock Vivian's trajectory off, and Zau had aimed it such that it would blast Vivian back into the thick of her gnashing trees, giving her a small taste of her own medicine, both in the "vanishing to your opponent's back" and "getting attacked by trees" departments.
As Zau fell, he watched the trees again, and timed his landing so that he could run along the roots of the living weapon. As before, he would duck and weave, taking full advantage of his Sharingan's ability to track fast-moving objects, sliding in and around the branches to avoid the worst of it. Occasionally, he would create a clone, and have said clone perform the Bunshin Taiatari [Clone Body Blow] technique to launch Zau's body to a different section of forest, and further, when a branch or root came in too quickly for Zau to effectively dodge, he would instead rapidly charge a Rasenha, blasting the offending tendril away long enough for Zau to regain his footing.
Ultimately, this may have been a losing battle-Zau couldn't keep this stunning display of acrobatics up forever, but nor could his opponent continue to maintain such an incredible technique forever. It was a matter of who ran out of steam first.
"...yes?"
Zau's none-to-spectacular comeback notwithstanding at least it seemed he was confident enough in his ability to continue fighting. Vivian grinned in anticipation of clashing with her rival up close and personal soon, but it seemed that Zau had other plans. With him holding the seal for Shunshin that she was quite familiar with Vivian was certain that she wasn't directly in range. What then was his plan?
It wasn't until he suddenly pushed off and appeared behind her that Vivian realized her mistake. It was a trick her most recent summon also enjoyed employing and unfortunately for her it put her in the difficult position of trying her hardest to stay out of the air. With the twin attacks racing towards her back and threatening to do some serious damage if both actually hit Vivian shifted away to the location of a previously thrown kunai now lost in the depths of the forest before activating her Far Sight to keep an eye on Zau's position.
Creating a set of clones Vivian coordinated their deployment in tandem with her mokuton jutsu's attacks. As Zau would be defending against a tendril the first clone would teleport before him such that it was barring his path. It would recreate the earlier attempt Vivian had made at targeting Zau's arms with her Snake Tongue jutsu. Another clone would then teleport behind Zau and attempt to sweep away his legs with a Dragon Tail. If this destabilization was actually somehow successful the last 2 clones at Vivian's side would teleport in flanking positions on either side of Zau and attempt to pin his arms and if possible get him in a wrist lock so they could point his palms either away from all parties involved or directly towards Zau.
When the clone appeared in front of Zau, even his Sharingan didn't help him react to the sudden appearance-the clone would strike both of Zau's arms at the same time that the clone from behind swept his legs. Zau would go airborne just in time for Vivian's other clones to grab him, pinning the Uchiha and ending the fight.
At least-that's what that clone would have seen, had it met Zau's glowing eyes and his Genjutsu Sharingan (C-Rank). In reality, Zau had leaped over the clone with Chou Oe no Ha [Butterfly on the Leaves], sliding between the attacking finger strikes and gliding over the kick. Zau spun as he completed the flip, skipping the kick that was ordinarily attached to this technique and instead landing behind the Genjutsu'd clone. As he fell, the Rasenha he prepared slammed into the tree limb he had originally been defending against. Zau stood up, and with the same motion, thrust his palm towards the back of the clone, again releasing a burst of his Kazete [Wind Palm], which would have the effect of pushing the clone into the clone that had been behind Zau; it likely wouldn't disperse either clone, but it would get them off his back for a moment, at least. Though, they WERE pretty high up, and these trees were insane-losing their footing could absolutely spell the end for those clones if they got unlucky.
Of course, since Zau had moved, the Genjutsu he cast had been dispelled almost immediately-but as his Chou Oe no Ha was also performed at doubled speed, there was a chance that the clone wouldn't be able to adequately react to the drastically shifting scenes before it-especially since Zau doubted the clones were using their Byakugan.
Zau didn't wait to see if the clones were defeated by his technique; instead, he employed a series of leaps, jumping from tree limb to tree limb, to carry himself higher into the trees. Zau formed a Katon: Rasengatana in his right hand and a Fuuton: Rasengatana in his left; if Vivian meant to send her clones after him, Zau would cut them down without hesitation. Plus, the chakra blades could most likely cut through the trees with ease.
Zau didn't like playing defensively like this-but he often found that, against Vivian, he rarely had the choice not to. Her mist was bad enough-now she could change the landscape at will, and still had her teleporting tricks? Zau reaffirmed the long-standing thought in his head that Vivian was the most annoying person to fight against.
