Name: Kodogu

Leader: Zei Kodogu is a man in his later 30's, a young age for any member of the priesthood and certainly a young age to attain the "Master of the Forge" rank. An adherent of the path of the Shifter, Zei's reputation as an assassin and his trademark unsettling silence has thrown off many negotiators who hoped for better trade deals with the clan. He firmly puts the clan first in all things, although he is not an unreasonable man and will lend resources to outsiders where he finds it viable.

Fighting Style: Deus est Machina, Steel Tsunami, Quicksilver

Description: The Kodogu are by and far one of the most industrious clans in all the lands, dedicating themselves to their work with a passion and zeal that outsiders would have a difficult time understanding. They come in all shapes and sizes, generally dependent on which caste they hail from. The most predominant caste known as the Keepers (or Keepers of the Forge as is their full title) are generally fairly sturdy folk. Usually they have brown hair and eyes, although alternative colors are not unheard of. Juggernauts tend to dwarf even their Keeper cousins. Although average size Juggernauts are not unheard of, smaller Juggernauts don't exist. Shifters and Speakers both lack any defining features at first glance, with Shifters capable of passing as any clanless off the streets. Speakers would as well, were it not for the telltale shift in their eye color to grey whenever they use chakra.

The various castes within the Kodogu are more like guidelines rather than indicators of status. A Juggernaut could follow the path of the Shifter and vice versa, but they would be more predisposed towards their own path. There exists a fifth caste known as the Priesthood, although admission into this group is based off merit rather than birth. The Priesthood are the leaders of the clan, with the most influential member holding the rank of "Master of the Forge".

Kodogu tend to wear clothing for its functionality rather than looks, and with how much time they tend to spend in the forges most of their attire is designed to protect them from the heat. The members of the priesthood wear flowing grey robes with an anvil pendant to denote their rank within the clan.

The Kodogu primarily focuses on creating better and more efficient equipment, and prefer a non-combat role within the village. That is not to say that they are incapable of fighting, just that time spent fighting is time they lose from fiddling with their creations.

Bloodline: Hagane no Noroi

Special Ability: All Kodogu clan members are born with an affinity for Koton; Kodogu who have both Doton and Katon may choose to purchase Koton instead of Lava release, although this does not prevent them from learning both if they so choose and pay the points for it. Additionally items created and maintained by the Kodogu are superior and considered to be a rank higher where applicable. S rank items are similarly superior to other S rank items although not by any means indestructible unless altered through some other means.

Background: The Kodogu started as a clan with a keen interest in their tools. To them, it was their tools that provided for them while hunting, or protected them while defending their homes. They paid more attention to their tools than their neighbours and in doing so often came out on top, leading to the expansion of their territory. Word spread of their craftsmanship, and before long they were offered a place in the village of Akarigakure. In the service of the village they prospered, content with the task of providing quality weapons to the other clans and managing maintenance or repairs.

Long ago the Priesthood of Steel worked on transcribing all information the clan had safeguarded over the years on their artifacts into a tome they called "The Heart of Steel". It was not a book in the traditional sense, but a large book shaped steel construct that could be imprinted with information by use of the Kodogu’s chakra, and which could only be opened with the chakra of a clan member. The artifact was more precious to them than their very lives, representing an entire ages worth of progress. More than that, the Heart was also used in their rituals related to the clan's bloodline.

It is with this artifact that the Kodogu of today can call upon their ancestor’s wisdom, as every new design deemed worthy is inscribed into it's surface. To this day the Kodogu keep mostly to their own affairs as they did before, participating in village affairs only when called upon to do so. While the Kage does have the loyalty of the clan, it is the priesthood, the clan's spiritual leaders, who truly decide how and when the clan operates. Outside interference from the village is frowned upon, and actively discouraged via regulation of trade. Not that there has ever really been reason to interfere in the affairs of the industrious clan.
